FAQs
We realize that you probably have a lot of questions about shipping your vehicle. For that reason, we have provided the answers to some common questions below. However, if you don’t see your question answered, give us a call today!
Q. How far ahead should I plan?
A. We would like to have two to three weeks’ notice prior to your shipment. Then again, if you need to move a car immediately, we may still be able to help. Tell us what you need and we will offer our best suggestions to accommodate your situation.
Q. How long does the move take?
A. This answer varies depending on your destination. However, after picking up your vehicle we usually get it delivered within 10-14 days. Keep in mind; things like road construction, weather, and unforeseen circumstances may delay transport.
Q. Where is my vehicle picked up and delivered?
A. Due to the fact that most of our trucks are 80 feet in length, navigating residential streets is not possible. Therefore, the driver and customer will set up a mutually acceptable location such as a nearby parking lot or shopping center.
Q. Is my vehicle insured?
A. Yes, the vehicle is insured while in our possession. A condition report (Bill of Lading) is done at the time of pick up with the person turning the car over and the driver. At destination, the receiving party re-inspects the vehicle to make sure it arrives in the same condition it left in. Occurrences not covered are clearly listed on the Bill of Lading; if for some reason you feel that damage has occurred, you must note it on the report before you sign it and before the driver leaves. Any claims made after this time will not be honored.
Q. Do you haul inoperable vehicles?
A. No; all vehicles must run, brake and steer. We are not equipped to haul inoperable vehicles.
Q. Can I pack belongings in my vehicle?
A. The Department of Transportation does not legally allow household goods (personal belongings) in vehicles transported on auto carriers. DOT officials do have the right to inspect and/or remove personal household belongings from vehicles at their discretion.
Q. What payment options do I have?
A. We accept cashiers checks, cash and Postal Money Orders only. We do not accept personal checks or credit cards under any circumstances. The customer agrees that if the payment cannot be made at delivery, the vehicle will be stored at the customer’s expense. Should the customer be unable to take delivery for any reason, the vehicle will be placed in storage and all storage and/or delivery charges will be the responsibility of the customer.
Q. What if my vehicle arrives to the destination before I do?
A. If you are not available to receive your vehicle and cannot designate a consignee on your behalf, the car will be kept in a secure storage facility. Terminal and/or storage fees may apply.
Q. How do I prepare my car for transport?
A. We prefer the vehicle has a quarter-tank or less of gas. Any non-factory luggage racks, bike racks, hitches, winches, ladder racks, light bars, antennas, etc. must be removed prior to transport.
